Who We Are
Welcome to SATA Trails Society (SATA). SATA holds the Letter of Authority from the Province of Nova Scotia for the Gaetz Brook Greenway (Greenway). People are on the Greenway to walk, ride, socialize, and SATA wants to provide a better trail experience. We advocate for Active Transportation to connect our communities along the Eastern Shore to meet the needs of all users for their outdoor recreation, transportation, and healthy living (eg: walking, running and cycling). Bicycles are defined in the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act Section 2 (c). The Greenway is non-motorized as per the Letter of Restriction from the Province of Nova Scotia.
Active Transportation (AT) Definition
SATA Trails Society has adopted the current HRM definition: “Active transportation (AT) includes any form of “human-powered” mobility, such as walking, bicycling, skateboarding, using a wheelchair and rollerblading.” Halifax Integrated Mobility Plan (p. 85)
